Leonid & Friends are a Russian band that achieved a cult following in the USA from people watching their YouTube videos. We’ve seen them multiple times now and they always put on a good show. If you get the opportunity to see them, go for it. This is a video I took from the first time we saw them back in 2019 at Plymouth Memorial Hall. At that time they mostly did covers from the band Chicago but they have since moved on to perform other music from bands such as Earth, Wind and Fire and Blood Sweat and Tears.

A few years back I started to tune my own piano. Before I retired, I had lots of money and little time so it made sense to have someone else do the job. Since retiring, the equation has changed, now I have lots of time and less money so it makes sense to do it myself. I was a little hesitant at first since it seemed pretty complex and there was a lot of potential for things to go wrong. I have a pretty decent quality Italian/Germany Schulze Pollmann piano and it would be a shame to destroy it if things went horribly wrong, but being a typical guy, I jumped in and hoped for the best. I was listening to a progressive rock sampler on Amazon Prime music the other day and to my surprise my ears were treated to the dulcet styling of William Shatner. William Shatner doing prog rock? Who knew it. Turns out in 2013 Shatner and Billy Sherwood release a whole prog rock album called “Ponder The Mystery.” As expected, Shatner speaks his way through it, but the music is actually pretty decent. Here’s a link to the video…
According to KHOU.com, “Willie Nelson abruptly ended his concert in San Diego this weekend after coughing and experiencing breathing difficulties during the first song of his performance.” Interesting that this is the same week that recreational pot became legal in the crazy state of California. Coincidence? I think not.
Scott Hamilton performing at Chan’s on Sept 10, 2016. Accompanied by Tim Ray – Piano, Marshall Wood – Bass and Jim Gwin – Drums. I’m posting this as a way to encourage other people to come out and experience a live jazz performance. Sadly, few young people attend these concerts and the art appears to be dying out. Come out and see these artists while you still can. Tickets are inexpensive and you can actually see the show instead of viewing a dot on stage from the 75th row. On top of that the music is excellent. If any of the performers have a problem with these being online, let me know and I’ll pull them down.
