And the Answer is… Ken Jennings

by Al January 19, 2021
written by Al

I was never a big fan of Ken Jennings. He always seemed a bit arrogant and to top it off, had that Howdy Doody look going against him. When they announced him as the potential successor for Alex Trebek I cringed. Jennings? How could you even consider him? Turns out I was wrong. Jennings has turned out to be perfect in the role. He knows the game, has the proper credentials and seems really comfortable hosting the show. The producers shouldn’t look any further, they s should stop looking and make Jennings the full time host.

Diversity Morons

by Al June 3, 2018
written by Al

I’ve been thinking about putting up a new antenna for my HF radio and did a Google search to see what was available in the way of masts. A hit came up for Home Depot which carried the Channel Master – Universal 25 ft. Indoor/Outdoor Telescoping Mast. Picking up a mast at Home Depot would be quick and easy so I clicked on the link and here is what I found in the description… Just incredible. We’ve gotten to a point where using the term ‘guy wire’ apparently isn’t inclusive enough so we have to call them ‘person wires’ instead. I wonder what moron made this decision. These people are just frigging insane. Next time I go to the supermarket …

RIP Rose Marie

by Al December 29, 2017
written by Al

I was sad to see that Rose Marie, best known for playing Sally Rogers on the Dick Van Dyke show, died yesterday.  That said, 94 is a pretty good run. I’ve included a link to a video of Rose Marie when she was known as Baby Rose Marie.  The video is from 1929 and I find it astounding how it feels like it’s from ancient times.  It’s amazing that one person could live in a world where so much has changed in their life time.

To the Left, it’s Always about Class Envy

by Al December 24, 2017
written by Al

The above graphic was a headline in an article published on the New York Times website today.  Note the subheading: “One man is building a house so enormous, and so absurdly lavish, that it may be the ultimate symbol of our age of thirst, excess and inequality.” They couldn’t focus on the architectural achievement, or the number of people that will be employed building this house and maintaining it after it’s built.  Instead they had to go for the class envy angle. To the leftist crazies it’s always about jealousy; if someone has more that someone else it’s just not fair.  They don’t care if the person that has more, has more because they’ve worked harder, took bigger risks or …

A Millennial Job Interview

by Al December 9, 2017
written by Al

OK,  not all millennials are like this but there are an awful lot of them that are.  I worked for an engineering firm a few years back that was trying to hire a summer software intern but not a single candidate was willing to work a forty hour work week.

Be Careful What You Google

by Al December 3, 2017
written by Al

I got pulled into one of those click-bait slide shows this morning showing pictures of stars “like you’ve never seen them.” One of the pictures was of a Yvonne Craig who played Bat Girl in the 60’s television series Batman. She was quite lovely, curvy in all the right places and was wearing a bikini showing off her killer body. Being a guy, I was curious if she ever posed nude so I did a Google search. Somehow I ended up typing Yvonne De Carlo (Lily Munster from the Munster’s TV show) instead of Yvonne Craig while doing the search. Who knew there was such a thing a Munster’s porn? While somewhat disturbing, some of it was actually quite creative; …

Fake News From The UK Daily Mail

by Al September 23, 2017
written by Al

The title, “Horrifying video shows California cop shooting man SEVEN TIMES outside a 7-Eleven after suspect grabbed the officer’s magazine” leads one to believe the cop had just purchased a copy of “Field and Stream’ from the local Seven Eleven. In reality, if you read the article, you learn it was a gun magazine that was grabbed. Huge difference. I would think the editors would want a more accurate title, but I guess making it sensational gets them more hits. That was the comment I attempted to post on the UK Daily Mail website but of course it was never published. I guess they can’t have any decent from the riff-raff and anyway, everyone knows you mustn’t let reality get …

American as Apple Pie

by Al September 17, 2017
written by Al

A boy mowing the lawn is about American as apple pie. For a great many of us it was the first job we had when we were growning up. Earlier this week, we were treated to the story of Frank Giaccio, an eleven year old from Falls Church Virginia, who wrote President Trump saying that it would be his “honor to mow the White House lawn.” The president took him up on his offer and Gaiccio did the job telling Fox News, “So far it’s pretty much the best day of my life.” Nice story. Hard working, self starter, showing ambition and drive. A story that should make everyone happy. Not so, Steven Greenhouse, former labor reporter for the New …

Racism

by Al September 6, 2017
written by Al

Here’s a comment I made yesterday on an article about racism: I went to high school with a guy from the Philippines. He was one of the most popular guys in the school. He was involved in all sorts of school activities and everyone loved him. I only wished I could have been half as popular as he was. To hear him now, you would think that his life back then was a living hell. I’m sure there was the occasional jerk that made rude comments or did something discriminatory against him but I never witnessed it. Most people treated him just the same as they did anyone else, both good and bad. There was a recent discussion on one …
